We are thrilled to unveil the Arya King Diamond Darjeeling Tea – First Flush 2025, a tea that marks the grand return of one of the most celebrated gems from the Arya Tea Estate. This exquisite tea has re-emerged in a vibrant, greener form—a version that first appeared in 2014 and immediately captivated us with its unmatched flavor and freshness.

Traditionally, Arya Diamond teas—even during First Flush—were manufactured with a more chocolate-brown profile, consistent across multiple harvests. But in ’14, Arya produced a greener version of its Diamond tea that stood out remarkably. We were so impressed that we specifically requested this unique style the following year—and to our delight, that greener avatar soon became the new norm.

From then until ’22, we sourced Arya Diamond regularly, but after that, we paused our procurement as the teas didn’t quite meet our expectations. Fast forward to 2025, and the magic is back—stronger than ever. This year’s tea is not only a revival of the celebrated greenish Arya Diamond but has also been crowned with a prestigious new title by the estate itself: “King Diamond.” And yes, the exclusive teabox photo is up – don’t miss it!

Since March 2025, we’ve been closely tasting and evaluating Arya teas. Due to a delayed flush in the higher elevations of the garden, it took a little longer for the tea leaves to sprout, but the wait has certainly paid off. We’ve now secured a very limited quantity of what we believe to be the finest Arya Diamond Darjeeling Tea of this First Flush season – an extraordinary micro-lot that has been officially tagged as “King Diamond” (Invoice EX-25) by Arya Tea Estate.This title isn’t just honorary – it reflects the exceptional quality of this particular lot.

Only 8 kilograms of this rare and remarkable tea were produced this year – and we’re proud to say we’ve acquired the entire lot.

Grown at the Highest Elevations – True Arya Diamond Character

What sets this Arya King Diamond Darjeeling Tea apart is its origin. This tea is made using authentic AV2 clonal leaves from a dedicated high elevation plot – the true birthplace of Arya Diamond teas. While Arya also produces excellent Diamond teas from slightly lower elevations, this one from the original Diamond tea growing section stands in a league of its own.

Dry Tea Leaves (Arya Diamond Tea Darjeeling)

The dry leaves of Arya King Diamond First Flush 2025 are absolutely stunning. They showcase a balanced mix of brownish-green hues, elegantly interwoven with lighter and darker brown shades that are characteristic of Diamond teas. The leaves are long, wiry, well-rolled, and beautifully twisted, indicating superior leaf quality and processing.

You’ll immediately notice the abundance of silvery tips, covered in downy hairs, which give the tea a captivating bloom and reflect the expert handling during processing. When we first opened the packet, we were greeted with a burst of ripe orange aroma layered with floral, nutty, and caramel-like notes, along with a hint of chocolate essence.

Brewing Tips

Water

Use plain filtered or spring water abundance in oxygen. Do not re-use already boiled water for the taste may appear flat.

Temperature

It can be from 175-185 Degree F. Since the tea leaves are larger and delicate, higher temperatures seem to cook it. If your water is too hot, let it cool down for a while.

Quantity of Tea leaves

Standard procedure says 2.5 grams per 100 ml of water, but may not be correct as it is complex due to different cultivars, leaf sizes and make. For this it is recommended you use around one and a half tea spoonful per mug of tea.

Steeping Time

Steeping time for this tea is 3-4 minutes.

Pretty surprising

I can safely say this is one of the best darjeelings I’ve had. It’s got bitter notes (orange, citrus, raw almond), herbal notes (eg. mint), and some flower notes that are balanced by smoother, nearly buttery, frangipane-like notes. The afterstate is quite long, leaving in the thoat some fruit-like bitterness. Overall, the tea is smooth in spite of not being sweet, the flavor is complex, unique enough to be recognizable, and the bite on the sides of the tongue keeps it from being bland. Furthermore, it is rather reinfusable for a darjeeling (don’t get too crazy though, cause this will still lead to this common undesirable madicinal-like astringent broth). Honestly, good price for a very good and original take on darjeeling greens.
