About Liza Hill Tea Estate Clonal Enigma
Liza Hill Tea Estate is actually a division of Risheehat tea Estate, but later turned into a separate entity. The main reason was that it only had clonals planted and the best clonals come from this division. Before 1963 Liza Hill Tea Estate was a completely different tea garden with its own factory, but later on it became a division of Risheehat and the teas from this division are marked separately as “Liza Hill” for its exclusive clonal varieties. Mr. Rajiv Kumar sampled us a lot of samples from both Risheehat and Liza Hill and we fell in love with this particular 2018 Darjeeling Second Flush tea. The best from a range of clonals we tasted was this particular invoice, LC-04.

Dry Tea Leaves (Liza Hill Clonal Enigma Tea)
The dry tea leaves are well rolled and twisted in nature. It has an overall chocolate brown appearance with abundance of silver tips showing sign of high quality manufacture with the preservation of good look and flavor. This Liza Hill tea is very sweet in nature with an overwhelming warm chocolate like aroma. The caramel like aroma comes packed with other complex fruity notes which results in a pleasing aroma that fills the mind with warmth and a longing for this tea. The nutty characteristics cannot be avoided here. This is a perfect example of a classic quality Second Flush Darjeeling Tea.
Infusion or Wet Tea leaves
This Liza Hill Tea Estate Clonal Enigma has an overall coppery infusion which seems even in nature. The mixture of light and dark brown leaves are bright with an inherent character of rich smell that is highly complex, leading more towards fruity and flowery characteristics. It also has light nutty aroma which is accompanied by a small degree of sweetness.
Cup or Liquor characteristics
It has a heavier strength compared to other clonals, but doesn’t lack in briskness. In fact the brisk or lively taste is very much prominent. The cup tends towards reddish-orange color which can be tagged as coppery. Brewing this for a complete 5 minutes time can make this cup a bit bitter; try brewing for 3 minutes and try it. Of course you can try different time settings. It has mild biscuity taste with exceptional quality flavor or undertones of caramel, fruits and nuts. It is full bodied and mellow.
This is a very limited edition Second Flush 2018 tea produced at Liza Hill Tea Estate. A lovely classic clonal variety tea and we wouldn’t want you to miss it. Don’t be suprised to see this tea go away in no time. Grab your share now!

A very enjoyable, complex tea. In my opinion, quite different but in a unique, positive way. I fully recommend it.

While Castleton teas tend to be may favorite, it is hard to avoid this also excellent tea, especially at 70% off regular pricing!! The reddish orange that you portray, is spot on. I, however, found it to be a bit more mellow tasting than some other muscatels, again, easily compensated, for me at least, by a slightly longer steeping time. The woody aroma and muscatel flavor are unmistakeable as long as the steeping time is increased. A delightful tea overall !
